Third Thursdays: Re-connecting Silicon Valley Asian American communities

Transforming the large number of Asian Americans into a strong Asian American community is very challenging. A recent study on building community in the the Silicon Valley found that “In a place where business and technology networks are strong, the personal ties that bind us to each other and to our community are weak.”

This month’s Third Thursdays first tries to sketch what the community currently looks like and then examines one of the primary steps of building an Asian American community — determing how individuals identify and join this community.

The panelists come from very different backgrounds — born in different locations, different ethnicities, different career paths. But in their own way, they came to identify and interact with the API community. We encourage everyone to attend this event, regardless of whether you you’ve been a part of the API community for many years, or are suddenly feeling like you want to join this community.

Panelists:

  • Roger Chow
    Vice-President, Director of Community Programs
    Asian Americans for Community Involvement
  • Alice Ng
    Shark Program Coordinator
    WildAid
  • Kausik Rajgopa
