Angel Island Immigration Station Preservation Day!

Third Thursdays, Asian Americans for Community
Outreach
(AACO), the Angel Island State Park, and
Angel Island Immigration Station Foundation will
help with the preservation efforts of the Angel
Island Immigration Station. On October 26, 2002
from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. volunteers will be
helping to do much needed work–maintaining
trails, recreating the recreation yard, and
clearing a path from the hospital to the cliff
which has not been accessed since the closing of
the station in the 1940s.

Volunteers are responsible for their own parking
and ferry transportation and should take the 10:00
a.m. ferry from either San Francisco (Blue and
Gold Fleet, Pier 41) or Tiburon (Angel Island
Ferry, Downtown Tiburon). Equipment will be
supplied. Volunteers should wear long pants and
boots, and bring gloves, water, and a lunch.
Drinks and snacks will be provided courtesy of
AACO.

  1. Here’s an article from the SF Chronicle about Angel Island Immigration Station Foundation’s efforts to collect information about Japanese immigrants at Angel Island: http://sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/c/a/2006/09/14/BAGPJL5DHR1.DTL
