After the Chocolate High: Keeping Your Relationship Post-Valentine’s Day

Thursday, February 17th
7-9:30pm
Japanese Cultural & Community Center of Northern California
1840 Sutter
San Francisco

  • Are you happy with the way your relationship is progressing?
  • Is love enough?
  • Does the idea of a life together just seems so right and would complete your life?!

  • BUT, do you feel you could improve your relationship?
  • Is stress affecting your relationship?
  • Do you want to learn ways to improve your relationship or learn ways to mend a broken heart?

Third Thursdays invites you to join us for a unique and thoughtful conversation about relationships. We will explore common relationship dynamics and issues among Asian American couples and discuss helpful ways to resolve conflicts and keep open communication in relationships. Our panelists include socially and culturally diverse Asian American couples who will share with us strengths and challenges about their relationships as well as tips on how they keep their relationships healthy and resolve inevitable conflicts.

Our moderators this month are mental health professionals who will also serve as panelists by sharing tips on maintaining healthy relationships. They will also discuss situations when it might be healthy to let go of a relationship and how to cope with a broken heart. The discussion will also take a look at the influence of Asian cultural values and parental expectations on our relationships.

Panelists include:
  • Couple Number 1
    Tony and Winston

  • Couple Number 2
    Ben and Stephanie

Moderated by:

  • Ravi Chandra, M.D.

    Psychiatry Resident
    University of California San Francisco

  • Wendy Cheng, Ph.D.
    Clinical Psychology Fellow
