Last month’s Third Thursday event explored the
issue of glass ceilings and the extent to which
they impacted three individuals working in the
nonprofit and for-profit sectors of the Bay Area.
This month’s Third Thursday event takes a
broader, social justice-oriented perspective by
looking at the injustices, inequities, and
discrimination faced by Asians and Pacific
Islander Americans in the workplace. The Asian
and Pacific Islander American struggles for
rights and recognition in the workplace has been
one spanning decades if not centuries. What
actions and progress have been made towards
paving the way towards social justice, equality,
and recognition for the worthy contributions
APIAs have made in the American workforce?
Speaking on these and other important issues are
Kalina Wong and Bill Tamayo, two remarkable
individuals who, through their courageous and
tireless efforts, have taken on the struggles to
seek dignity and justice for the voiceless and
the invisible.
