Japanese Cultural & Community Center

…So you down some bad wontons and wake up on
the sidewalk near Grant and Pacific the next
morning. And stooping over you in admiration
of those Keroppi print briefs- and the rest of
your exposed, fur-challenged torso, is none
other than ole Unc Cho-yes, the one with that
anthill mole gracing his left cheek…
Wow, what material for your next blog, your
novella, or for rhapsodizing in verse! But, how
does one translate such an experience into, like,
some catchy AA-BB-CC rhyme scheme? Fret not, for
our next Third Thursdays will show the way.
Featured guest speakers will include writers of a variety of backgrounds and disciplines-from recreational to “serious”
writers.” What they all share in common is an ability to
write under the influence and inspiration of
their API experience. Several of these
individuals are published. Some have indulged in
writing while holding unrelated full time jobs.
Importantly, they would like to share their
writing histories and discuss how they apply to
their compositions the unique
stories/people/settings that sprout from their
own lives, as Asians.
This Third Thursdays program is open to folks of
all levels of interest in writing (We may feature
a short writing exercise!). So come on by and
learn to foster your closet poet proclivities. Or
get a jump on November’s National Novel Writing
Month. Feed that writing bug.
