Dimensions of Leadership Through the Eyes of Asian Leaders

Thursday, July 20, 2006
7:00-9:30pm
Japanese Cultural & Community Center
1840 Sutter Street
San Francisco, CA 94115

“A leader takes people where they want to go. A great leader takes people where they don’t necessarily want to go, but ought to be.”
Rosalynn Carter, US First Lady (b.1927)

“As we look ahead into the next century, leaders will be those who empower others.”
Bill Gates

“The function of leadership is to produce more leaders, not more followers.”
Ralph Nader

Leadership can be defined as a social process which empowers
individuals and effects social change. Here in the Bay Area, we are
fortunate to have many prominent API leaders who are advocates for
social justice and change in the Bay Area.

What leadership successes, challenges, and lessons learned have these
individuals faced in their personal, professional, and community
activist lives? And what can we learn from them?

Come to this month’s Third Thursdays to hear API leaders in the
community share their perspectives, experiences, and thoughts around
leadership and what it means to them.

Panelists include:
  • David Chiu
    Chief Operating Officer
    Grassroots Enterprise
  • Jane Kim
    Youth Program Director
    Chinatown Community Development Center
  • Gayle Tang, MSN, RN
Director of National Linguistic & Cultural Programs
    Kaiser Permanente
